The Horticultural Exporters Association of Rwanda (HEAR) is a non-political, non-profit making and democratic member-based umbrella organization of all Exporters in Rwanda. It was established in 2016 with 13 members and it has now grown to 30 active members out of close or above 80 registered companies.

HEAR brings exporters of flowers, Vegatables: Tomatoes, green pepper, French beans, chilli pepper, carrots, hot paper, onions among others. Fruits: Avocados, mangoes, pineapples, passion fruit, bananas, and strawberry, Nuts: Macadamia and groundnuts as well as food stuffs.  We export to Europe and Asian Markets.

The Association was established to address the challenges organization and management, quality control, logistical issues and price negotiation.

HEAR will represent the interests of over 1 million farm families as the legitimate farmers’ voice with the objective of articulating issues affecting them through focused lobby and advocacy, targeted capacity building and promotion of sector stakeholders’ cohesiveness in dispensing progressive uptake of agricultural innovations for enhanced socio-economic status of the

farmers.

In the coming years, HEAR will focus to achieve many accomplishments on behalf of her membership. The association will continue to articulate the voice of the exporters, growers and farmers at all levels of governance, ensuring their thinking is built into relevant government policies and lobbies the governments for appropriate budgetary allocations for agriculture. HEAR will also continue with the unenviable task of uniting all exporters, growers and farmers in the horticultural industry; wherever they maybe in this country in order that they may demand for their rights through collective action.

It will help organize exporters, growers and farmers into viable agricultural value chains for optimal production and market access. While the challenges that continue to face farmers are becoming more complex, HEAR is ready to continue working with and for the exporters, growers and farmers of Rwanda for all their collective good and progressive socioeconomic transformation.
